10. Who is O&O RescueBox intended for?

The O&O RescueBox is available in three different versions: Personal, Admin and Tech Edition. All three versions differ in their functionality and how they are licensed for use.

The Personal Edition (PE) contains the three products O&O UnErase 4 Personal, O&O FormatRecovery 4 Personal and O&O DiskRecovery 4 Personal Edition. The PE license is computer-bound which means it may only be used on a single computer. The Personal Edition is ideal for the home user.

The Admin Edition (AE) contains the three products O&O UnErase 4 Admin, O&O FormatRecovery 4 Admin and O&O DiskRecovery 4 Admin Edition. It may be used on any number of computers within one company. The AE license is person-bound which means it is licensed per Administrator, and may not be used on non-company computers or as a service. The AE is ideal for all companies who wish to recover data from their own computers

The Tech Edition (TE) contains the three products O&O UnErase 4 Tech, O&O FormatRecovery 4 Tech and O&O DiskRecovery 4 Tech Edition. It expands upon the AE to include the use of O&O RescueBox on non-company computers. The license permits the use of the software as part of a data recovery service, and is licensed per Technician. This means a Technician may use the license to work with the software on any number of computers. The TE is ideal for all companies who offer data recovery as a service to their customers.

11. Do you offer O&O RescueBox licenses for Administrators or Technicians?

Yes, the O&O RescueBox Admin Edition (AE) is intended for Administrators. It may be used on any number of computers within one company.

The O&O RescueBox Tech Edition (TE) expands upon the AE to include the use of O&O RescueBox on non-company computers. The license permits the use of the software as part of a data recovery service, and is licensed per Technician. This means a Technician may use the license to work with the software on any number of computers.

Admin and Tech Editions may be purchased as single licenses and by companies using O&O's volume licensing. If you are interested in the O&O volume licensing program, please contact us at: http://www.oo-software.com/order/easylicensing/form

12. Why use O&O RescueBox as opposed to a competitor's product?

The O&O RescueBox is THE professional data recovery bundle. It comprises three data recovery products impressive enough in their own right. Combining these three to form RescueBox, O&O has produced a bundle covering every data recovery need that the competition simply cannot match.

With RescueBox, O&O has set the standard in software based data rescue, cementing its position as market leader in this sector.

13. What hard disk and other storage devices does O&O RescueBox support?

The O&O RescueBox supports the following devices:

All hardware storage devices that are supported by Windows XP/2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4 and Windows 95/98/ME, also with RAID systems.

File Systems: FAT12, FAT16, NTFS4 and NTFS5.

14. Is O&O RescueBox secure? What happens if the power supply is interrupted during the data recovery process?

To perform the data recovery process, O&O RescueBox uses a safe read-only process that leaves your data unchanged.

15. I've heard that it is impossible to restore files that have been overwritten by other data. Is this true?

Yes, recovery of data that has been physically overwritten is almost impossible.

Please note: If you would like to restore deleted files, it is imperative that you do not write any more data to disk.

With the O&O RescueBox you can recover your lost data with no need for prior installation.

16. From which types of storage media is O&O RescueBox able to recover data?

The O&O RescueBox can recover data from all storage media supported by Windows. This includes amongst others hard disks (ATA, SCSI, RAID-Systems), USB Sticks and most digital cameras. It also supports removable media such as ZIP and Jazz and also memory cards (Compact Flash etc.).

17. Can I use O&O RescueBox over a network?

Data recovery is only possible "locally". However, you can save recovered files into a folder stored on a network drive (when you have adequate permission to access those drives).

This is recommended because such a data recovery would not require any write access on your local drives. This is ideal when you are restoring multiple files in one session.

18. How good are my chances that I will be able to restore my deleted files?

The most important requirement for the successful recovery of a file is that no portion of the file may be overwritten with other data. However, the overall success of a data recovery depends on a number of different factors: the amount of write access to the disk that has occurred, the size of your file, how long ago you deleted it, and so on. The particular part of the disk Windows writes to when you start up a program or save a file is fairly random, so even if you deleted the file some time ago there could still be a chance of recovery. The most important thing to remember is to avoid write access as soon as you realize you've deleted a file by accident. If you act immediately the chances of recovering your file are excellent. The O&O RescueBox also allows for partial recovery of files - even if it can't get you all 100 pages of your report, 90 or even 10 pages could be invaluable!

19. Can I get back files I've safely erased, for example with O&O SafeErase?

No, you can't! O&O SafeErase is an extremely effective program for deleting data. O&O RescueBox can't get back files that have been deliberately deleted using O&O SafeErase, just those that have been deleted in everyday Windows usage.

20. I've probably got hundreds of deleted files on my computer, but I want to find and restore one quickly. Is this possible?

Of course! The intergrated recovery assistant in the O&O RescueBox allows you to select precisely the right product from the bundle to recover your important files. Some of the products include a sophisticated filter function that will carry out a focused search for the specific file(s) you wish to recover.

21. Do I also receive a license for a Windows Operating System with the O&O RescueBox?

The O&O RescueBox includes Microsoft Windows PE (Pre-installation Environment), a bootable Windows platform based on Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003. This means O&O RescueBox provides users with a familiar Windows environment for maximum comfort and ease of use. Please note though that the Microsoft Windows PE does not constitute a complete Windows operating system including licensing.
